How does it work?
Current LEAH youth and staff recruit and hire new youth through a rigorous application process.
Youth participate in an intensive training program before beginning work with elementary school students.
Youth are placed in paid internships at afterschool programs where they teach STEM curricula, help with homework, and mentor Boston Public School elementary school students.
Youth participate with LEAH 8 hours a week during the school year and 30 hours a week during the summer. This time is spent at after school sites throughout Boston, in academic support/homework time, and in weekly Meetings.
Youth come together to lead and participate in weekly training and team-building.
Youth are provided with college counseling and help through the application process, to break down potential barriers that could stand between them and a post-secondary school education
